I ♥ Public Art

Took a mini vacation recently when I was over at Anschutz Inpatient Pavilion the other day.  These primitive petroglyph were among a multitude of wonderful original paintings, photographs and reproductions.

I asked one of the staffers how often the art work changed.  She replied "What art work?"  I motioned up and down the hall and said, "All these glorious pictures." I was amazed when she said, "I never noticed them."

The Vintage Rose

When I was down in Castle Rock recently, I spotted this small boutique near McDonalds.    They had lots of interesting handmade things to peruse and a darling little tea room.

Back to Morrison

Pictures were taken before frost and leaves blew off the trees - literally.

Sedalia

Had to go to Castle Rock recently, took the back road and stopped at Sedalia along the way.  I was a little early, and here's what caught my eye:

Uncle Sam and flags

I liked this metal sign at the peak of their roof

nothing captures my attention like old wagon wheels

Cliff Dwellings Near Manitou Springs

One doesn't have to go to southwestern Colorado to see remnants of ancient ones.

This attraction is a great mixture of old and new.  Most of their native plants have identification tags.

Coors Train(s)

Several times a day, several trains rolls through the neighborhood whistling at crossings and tying up traffic.  Or is it one set of engines very, very busy moving railcars around and delivering goods to and from Denver?

Our Fire District had to create fire stations on both sides of the tracks as there was no telling how long they would have to wait to get to a fire or auto accident on the other side.  We have a high-speed freeway (State Highway 58) as the south border of our neighborhood as well as Interstate 70, so there is no lack of traffic emergencies.

The train has it funny moments, too.  Early one morning, I saw the train stop across the road from our convenience store, the engineer jump out, run across the street against the light and buy himself a cup of coffee.  To the chagrin of people at the Indiana Crossing, the tail of the train blocked it during his java run.

As anyone who lives near the railroad tracks can attest, we have one particular engineer who likes to lay on the whistle at 5 am and that gets the coyotes going.
